three months old - 5.27.12

today, emery is three months old! emery likes to kick her legs while she lays on her activity mat. she can bat at her toys and reach and grab with increasing accuracy. she eats and sleeps on a fairly regular schedule. she coos and makes sounds and "talks" with a few syllables like "goo" and "ga." although she doesn't directly mimic sounds, she'll mimic blowing raspberries and spitting, and she now thinks those are ways to communicate. mommy *may* have taught her that! she's a sweetie and a lot of fun!

in the sunlight, emery's hair is looking almost red. it's hard to tell since there's so very little of it!

why we swaddle - 5.19.12

today for the first time, bunny fell asleep playing with her toys. usually when she's had enough, she cries a bit, i pick her up, and she falls asleep a few minutes later. this time, she must have been having way too much fun to want to leave her friends. however, she spent at least 20 minutes dosing off and jerking awake over and over. i promise i wasn't making any noise (except for some silent chuckling at the cute baby)! this is another prime example of why we swaddle - she just can't dial it down enough to fall totally asleep. i guess we'll work on that. i transferred her to her crib and she slept a little bit, but after her bottle, i wrapped her right up and she slept hard for 3 hours. practicing our unswaddled time is very tiring for bunny! :)
 

no-swaddle nap - 5.17.12

first swaddle-free nap. it only took 40 minutes for her to fall asleep! blake and i weren't being super quiet for those 40 minutes, but still, that's a long time for her to settle. mostly her crying wasn't too terrible, so i think she could get used to it. isn't she a cutie pie?

if you look closely at the first picture, yes, that is a pacifier under her chin. but i'm certainly not going to try to move it while she's sleeping!

emery jabbering - 5.03 & 5.04.12

last friday, bunny had a very meaningful conversation with her doll baby.




last thursday, after blake's church softball game where she wore baseball jammies, emery did some jabbering and dancing.

bumbo - 5.07.12

today we tried the bumbo. i think bunny is a little too young to hold herself up - her poor little head was too heavy!
